Faith, Hope, Love

Faith, Hope, Love

“The greatest of these is love.”

Been thinking a lot lately of one of my favorite chapters in the Bible: 1 Corinthians 13. Such amazing wisdom in these few words! I have always drawn great comfort and encouragement from every word.

Most recently, though, is the last two sentences in the chapter I have been turning over in my mind: “(13). And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. (14.) But the greatest of these is love.”

I have been asking myself why is love the greatest?

Because love never dies. I believe that with my whole heart.

I also believe love is the strongest force in the universe.

Faith and hope come from the human heart. Faith may fail; hope can fade. And, yes, love comes from the human heart, too. But, since love comes from the Divine (1 John 4:16), it is a force that never wavers, never falters, never abandons. It is always present, always welcomes, always warms. God’s love can come directly to us, of course, and that is wonderful, but what a joy it is to feel such love can come through our hearts and into our world.

May you feel that kind of love today and for all time.

It will never fail you, I promise.
